This is what the sky looked like last year:

It looks the same this year too, not much has changed. The cherry tree in the picture is starting to blossom.

Oh, and it's one year since our earthquake.

This past year has been full of emotional eating. Seriously, what would you do if you were constantly plagued by earthquakes? Then your city is destroyed... so you make chocolate cake. Although cake always helps, it never fixes the problem. So you always need a stream of chocolaty goodness on hand, just in case.

We listened to the radio all day. I painted my nails because we didn't have electricity. Productive!
It still feels like 2010 to me, how could it be one year already?

Enjoy not getting typhoid!
Now that it's one year on, I just want to say thanks to all you blog readers who have been thinking and praying for us in Christchurch. So, thank you.

I've learned two big things over this year:
1) Anything could happen at any time. Be prepared.
2) I would be an emotional mess if it wasn't for my faith. God is in control and I can rest in that knowledge. This is part of being prepared, even if the building falls on top of me, I know where I'm going.
